OLTD 511: Crafting meaningful reflections for my ePortfolio.
Evidence No.17: Assessing Blended Programs
Course outcome(s):
This project was the first time that I had really seen blending at work in an actual classroom environment. Given the nature of this course, these videos introduced me to various blended models that I was not aware of prior to the commencement of the course. Regardless of the model being employed by the schools, their desire to have students excel and achieve academically was evident. The models were student centric and engaged students through the appropriate use of technology. This approach freed teaches to move to a more supportive role and provide greater individualization to students in their learning.
There were several school were especially of interest to me, but each school had positives worthy of note. What most impressed me was how many of the models were employed to improve student experiences at a time when the the schools were experiencing budget cuts.
This assignment was important to me as it allowed me to really see how each model could be applied in the real world, moving away from the models simply being a concept. Subsequent projects for this course flowed from a better understanding of each blended models applications. More importantly it allowed me to see how these models can be used better meet the needs of students, regardless of constraints.

Assessing blended programs
This was a very interesting exercise. Clearly all of the schools and programs reviewed had adopted a blended approach, but the differences, although obvious in some case, had subtleties within them. For example, My highest ranking school was KIPP Empower. It works on a Station Rotation Model, but the video, which was clearly a marketing tool, eluded to elements of lab Rotation and Individual Rotation. The Avenues World Schools looked phenomenal, incorporating a learning commons approach to teach to the 'whole child' but the video was not clear of the program or technologies being used.
Regardless, it was nice to see actual examples of how blending was being used in different ways to achieve and individualized and targeted education.

Evidence No.18: Major Inquiry Project: Creating your own Blended Learning Program
Course outcome(s):
The video was created using the tool Screencasto-matic. This tool is a free application available for use online or as a download. The application records the screen and the utilizes the computer's microphone to record and audio. As a tool, Screencasto-matic has proven itself versatile for creating presentations for the OLTD program, but reveals itself as a tool for use when creating online content for students.
The videos content provides a concise synopsis of the completed project, focusing on a set of key inquiry questions;

The videos content provides a concise synopsis of the completed project, focusing on a set of key inquiry questions;
- What problems was trying to be solved?
- What team would be best to implement a solution?
- What experience will be provided to students?
- What would the primary role of the teacher be?
- What hardware, software and physical space will be required?
- Which blended model would be adopted?
- How will you shape and maintain positive culture?
- What cost will be associated to the program
